The 2026-27 Madeline Schatz-Harris Concerto Competition

Presented by the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society

The Kamuela Philharmonic’s annual Youth Concerto Competition provides young musicians across Hawaiʻi the opportunity to perform as featured soloists alongside the orchestra in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Open to student musicians ages 18 and under, the competition supports emerging artists through performance experience, musical preparation, and adjudication by experienced musicians and educators.

The 2026–27 competition will be held in person at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Kailua-Kona on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Please note: in recognition of Rosh Hashanah, the competition will conclude before sundown on Saturday, September 12th so that those who observe the holiday may celebrate.

This season’s featured instrument families include:

  • Woodwinds
  • Brass
  • Percussion
  • Piano

Selected winners will perform with the Kamuela Philharmonic during its 2026–27 concert season at Kahilu in Waimea.
