About Laura

Laura, a native of Iowa, began her musical journey at the age of six when she started studying piano. She went on to pursue her passion for music at the University of Northern Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a focus on voice, piano, and conducting.

After teaching vocal music for grades 7–12 in Iowa, Laura relocated to Minneapolis, where she devoted more than 30 years to her musical career. She served as Assistant Conductor for the Oratorio Society of Minnesota, working with 60 semi-professional singers and performing alongside the Minnesota Orchestra. In addition, she conducted the Oratorio Chamber Singers and contributed her talents as a pianist, accompanist, flutist, and conductor for numerous organizations throughout the Twin Cities.

Alongside her musical pursuits, Laura built a successful career in finance, serving as Operations Accounting Manager at Wells Fargo Bank for 28 years. She oversaw the company’s employee retirement plans and led the Audit and Compliance Team, providing essential administrative and trust support for Wells Fargo’s 401(k) plan, which served more than 350,000 participants nationwide.

After moving to Waikoloa in 2016, Laura retired in 2019, where she now lives with her husband, who has an extensive musical theater background. Laura is delighted to serve on the Board and looks forward to contributing to the continued growth and development of music on Hawai‘i Island.
